It doesn’t take a genius to realize that I haven’t been baking as much this March. Instead, I’ve been focusing on some of my other hobbies, mainly crochet.
Earlier this month I discussed one of the projects I’ve been working on: Sophie’s Universe. After stumbling upon the pattern book one evening in my local JoAnn Fabrics, I knew I had to stitch it!
But, since I am never a solo-crocheter, I’ve started a few other projects this month. The first project I started was found through the Crochet Crowd’s new book. It’s really a memoir but does have a few patterns in it. I am doing this one in self-striping yarn, which is something that is new to me. But so far, I am enjoying it. This blanket is full of different stitches and textures and I can’t wait to see how it turns out.
Then there’s a third crochet project that I started. This one wasn’t planned. I don’t often have three blankets going at once, but once I saw this one, I fell in love! I run a knitting/crocheting group at work and one of the ladies who attends regularly. She was working on the Better Together Afghan that can also be found through Crochet Crowd and Yarnspirations. This one will be a gift. I love the color palette that my boyfriend helped me pick out and the colors will be perfect for the people I have in mind!
In addition to the crochet projects, I decided to take the plunge into something else.
Quilting!
And I bought myself a sewing machine! In addition to quilting I hope to learn how to hem pants and do some simple repairs.
After a few days of toying with the idea and doing some thorough research into machines, I finally settled on the Brother CS7205. It was on sale at JoAnn Fabrics so it was a win-win.
As soon as I took it out of the box, I was in awe of the machine and I can’t wait until I can starting quilting on it. To do that, I am going to use Craftsy, a website I had used in the past to learn about baking and painting. My boyfriend gifted me a Gold Membership for the year, so it will be getting a lot of use!
Here’s the machine I bought:

I can’t wait to share with you all more on my crafting escapades and baking as well.
Good luck with your projects. I used most of my quilt fabric 2 years ago making masks when the pandemic started. I haven’t had the energy to think about quilting lately. I usually do 2-3 in 1 year then none for the next 4-5 years. I need to find the passion again
